INSPIRED! The Joy of Street Creativity

We haven’t published many books by men at Quickthorn, so John Ingledew should feel honoured. His new title INSPIRED! is about the improvised creativity that he has documented and will be published this November.

STREET CREATIVITY is imaginative problem solving through the use of the things that happen to be at hand. This book celebrates these inventive acts by bringing together more than a thousand examples spotted over the last twenty years.

These creative acts are raw creativity, mostly by untrained designers at zero or very little cost, tackling problems in ingenious ways and featuring highly original uses of objects and surroundings. The book inspires readers to see and use things in new and smarter ways by revealing original and exciting perspectives on familiar objects and situations.

John Ingledew’s wonderfully undisciplined approach to creativity has seen him work with photography, printmaking, typography, textiles, ceramics and collage, as well as teaching graphic design, fine art and fashion.

INSPIRED! is John’s seventh book, previous titles include How to Have Great Ideas and The A–Z of Visual Ideas. He is visiting Professor at the London School of Film, Media and Design, University of West London.
